Laina C. Wilk
Laina C. Wilk specializes in litigation. At Berliner, Corcoran & Rowe,
she works primarily on complex federal cases involving the Foreign
Sovereign Immunities Act (“FSIA”), the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act
(“TRIA”), and international law. She has argued a criminal appeal before
the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and served as
senior associate during a three-week bench trial in an expropriation
case under the FSIA before the U.S. District Court for the District of
Columbia.
Prior to joining Berliner, Corcoran & Rowe, Ms. Wilk litigated a variety
of federal and state cases and class actions, including matters
involving antitrust, human rights, the Alien Tort Claims Act, ERISA, and
denaturalization. Ms. Wilk also represented certain clients seeking
compensation from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. From
2002-2004, Ms. Wilk served as law clerk to the Honorable Gregory A.
Presnell, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Ms. Wilk is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland State
Bar, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the
District of Columbia, and the U.S. District Court for the District of
Maryland. She graduated from American University’s Washington College of
Law with her J.D. in 2001, and from Bucknell University with her B.A. in
1996. Prior to law school, Ms. Wilk worked as an editor in the Public
Information department of The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia from
1996-98. Ms. Wilk was born and raised in Brunswick, Maine.
